A windstorm late Monday, June 8, brought down trees and power lines in Ottawa, and the power went out shortly after 11:30 p.m. The worst damage was west of Main Street between 2nd and 10th streets, with little reported south of 10th. Gusts in some areas were reported at 80 mph or more, though the airport's peak was 38 mph.

Several homes had minor damage, and falling trees crushed at least four vehicles. City crews are restoring power and clearing streets. To report an outage, call 785-242-3750.

A citywide limb pickup starts Monday, June 15. Stack limbs near the curb and parallel to it. Crews can't collect from alleys. Brush can also be hauled to the free drop-off site on West 2nd Street beyond Hope Cemetery, near the 2nd Street dam.
