Franklin County officials say a new Safe Streets and Roads for All grant will help fund transportation safety planning and targeted upgrades across the county. The award totals about $825,820, with most of the funding coming from federal and state sources.
According to the county announcement, the work will focus on rural flood-prone roads, school-area safety, and pedestrian improvements in Ottawa and Wellsville. Planned work includes safety analysis, crossing and signage upgrades, and design work for roadway trouble spots.
The grant is also expected to support a countywide safety action plan that can guide future applications for larger implementation funding. Local officials have said public input will be part of the planning process as projects are prioritized.
