The Old Depot Museum hosted a program on August 14, 2022 focused on Maud Wagner, the Kansas-born circus performer and tattoo artist often cited as the first documented female tattoo artist in the United States.

According to the Franklin County Historical Society announcement, the presentation traced Wagner's path from circus work into hand-poked tattooing, along with her role in early American tattoo culture. The topic connected Kansas history to a less familiar national story.

The program was part of the museum's continuing schedule of local history talks that bring regional and state stories back to Ottawa audiences.
