A traveling exhibit titled "Living Sovereignty: Governing in Indian Territory and Kansas" opened at the Old Depot Museum on May 7, 2022 and focused on Native self-government, treaties, and tribal history tied to Kansas.
The exhibit included material related to tribes connected to Franklin County and surrounding areas, including Ottawa, Potawatomi, Shawnee, Kanza, and others. It framed Native nations as living political communities rather than only historical subjects.
The exhibit gave local audiences a broader view of sovereignty, treaty history, and Indigenous presence in the region's past and present.
