Ottawa officials are considering a closer review of the city's levee system as aging flood-control equipment and long-term maintenance needs come into focus.
City leaders said parts of the levee infrastructure, including pump equipment, are showing their age. A proposed study would examine current conditions, identify repair priorities, and help the city evaluate future upgrade options.
The levee has long played an important role in protecting low-lying parts of Ottawa near the Marais des Cygnes River. A more detailed study could help the city plan for future flood risks, infrastructure costs, and possible grant opportunities.
