Kansas State Bank broke ground Friday, September 4, on a renovation of the building directly behind its Main Street location, at 122 W. Tecumseh. The bank has outgrown its current space. Built in 1925, the building has served many businesses over the years as warehouse storage.

About 15,000 square feet will be rehabilitated, with offices at street level, storage below and open space on the top floor for future development. The roof has already been replaced.

On September 2 the City Commission approved a resolution for industrial revenue bonds on the project. The bonds give the bank a sales tax exemption worth an estimated $164,730, and the city owes nothing on them. A state cost-benefit analysis projected seven new jobs over ten years.
