The Old Depot Museum opened its "Horse Power" exhibit on September 17, 2021, exploring the transition from horse-drawn travel to automobiles in Franklin County.
The exhibit used county statistics, photographs, and vehicle history to show how quickly Ottawa and the surrounding area adapted to motor travel. It also highlighted the road, bridge, and commercial changes that followed the shift to automobiles.
By pairing buggies, wagons, and early cars in one story, the exhibit gave visitors a practical look at how transportation reshaped daily life in the county.
