The Ottawa City Band is starting its summer concert series a little earlier than usual this year. The first concert is Tuesday, May 26, at 7:30 p.m. at the Ottawa Memorial Auditorium.

After that, the band plays every Tuesday evening through July 7. It also has a special Fourth of July performance planned at Forest Park.

Each show usually includes a few patriotic pieces, and this summer the programs will lean even more toward music with an American theme. KOFO notes that the band, made up of local musicians, is the second-longest continuously running band in Kansas.
